Halcyon Plants have a good stock of Hosta Plants available for Sale Online which do well up to August but will die back for the Winter and as soon as there is a frost the leaves will go brown.
Hosta Plants are grown in a 2 litre pot – try to keep the roots reasonably free. There will be some loose compost until about July when they should be rooted around fairly tightly. Please understand that it does not matter if the roots of a perennial like hosta are a bit tight – they will soon find their way out into the soil.
Hostas will be happy in full sun or part shade. The more shaded the plants are the richer and darker the green colours will be, although yellows will be more striking in more light. Hostas will produce more flower when in full light.
For best results grow Hostas in well drained but moist, reasonably fertile soil, making sure they get enough water in very dry years. Clear damaged and rotting leaves away and mulch with dry sharp material (like gravel) to deter slugs.
