I think Escallonia ‘Apple blossom’ is one of the finer escallonias. The habit is not as thick or large as others, but the flower is, in my opinion, the best.
Apple blossom pink flowers that appear in early and mid summer, over glossy dark green leaves. Useful in shrub borders, or as a hedge or screening plant. Can be grown as a specimen.
For all purposes I would describe this as hardy, although the RHS would say frost hardy, meaning happy to -5C or more. The main thing is not to expose to cold drying winds.
Grow in any well drained fertile soil. Easily kept in shape by pruning.
