Jasminum officinale is the species variety, and is grown for the very fragrant star-shaped flowers it bears in summer and early autumn.
Semi- evergreen in mild areas, but generally the foliage browns and drops off in the winter. Ideal for trellis, tied to walls and fences in a warm sheltered sunny corner.
Grow in most soils that are well drained but moist, in full sun.
The picture is ‘Inverleith’ – looks the same, but the flower buds are white.
